Case Study
The Legal Challenge:
One Industries Corp., an innovative industry leader of technical apparel, casual wear, helmets, protective wear and graphics, established RIDERS F1RST, a charitable organization that provides assistance to athletes that suffer career-ending injuries and are in need of financial aid. Partnering with motocross legend David Bailey, the goal of RIDERS F1RST is to identify such athletes and address their needs with the money raised by the program.
The Luce Forward Solution:
Days before the inaugural event of RIDERS F1RST, One Industries approached Luce Forward to ensure they had met the necessary requirements to raise funds for their cause. In order to accept charitable donations at the event, RIDERS F1RST needed to obtain tax exempt status. The Luce Forward team quickly identified the issue and donated its time pro bono to form the RIDERS F1RST 501(c)(3) entity.

The inaugural event took place as planned. “Our company was very excited to launch RIDERS F1RST with the mission of giving back to riders injured in our sport, teaming up with David Bailey for the first project was a natural step to take. We were so busy planning for the organization’s coming out party that we forgot to file for our non-profit status so we could begin accepting contributions.
