Carl B. Johnson

Carl Johnson has represented major developers, investors, commercial banks, foreign banks, savings and loan associations, life insurance companies, investment banks, restaurant chains and industrial and high technology users in a wide range of real estate, real estate finance and related matters. Mr. Johnson has a substantial real estate finance practice, having represented lenders in the negotiation, documentation, workout, foreclosure and disposition of construction, permanent, shared appreciation, credit enhancement and other financings, and in the participation and syndication of loans.

Mr. Johnson has also represented developers and investors in the acquisition, development, commercial leasing, ground leasing, financing and disposition of office buildings, shopping centers, other retail properties, mixed-use developments, hotel and resort properties and residential developments; and in the organization of joint ventures, limited partnerships, limited liability companies and co-tenancy arrangements. He  also has substantial experience in the documentation of simultaneous and delayed tax-deferred exchanges.

Mr. Johnson, who was formerly a vice president and underwriter with a major title insurance company, has particular expertise in title insurance and title related matters, and has represented owners, lenders, insureds and title insurance companies in a wide variety of title and title insurance matters. His experience also encompasses the acquisition, parcelization, restriction and disposition of contaminated and environmentally challenged properties, and the land use issues relating to such matters.
